At Stampin’ Up!®, we light the fires of creativity and
imagination! Often, those sparks come from education
and learning—there is a difference between the two!
We can sit in a classroom and listen to all sorts of things,
but we don’t truly learn until we listen, understand,
absorb . . . and learning takes place in many places
other than a classroom!
In this issue of Stampin’ Success, for the first time
ever, we’re weaving a specific topic into almost every
article. The topic is education, and we chose the
September issue because, of course, it’s fall, and
everyone is heading back to school! So learning is
on many of our minds. This is an exciting time as
we anticipate the growth and progress that often
accompanies education, especially when we open
up our minds and embrace what we’re learning.
I’m certainly passionate about learning. While I didn’t
graduate from college, I did attend several semesters
and feel that higher education is a wonderful blessing
worth working for!
Even more importantly, however, is a personal
commitment to learning beyond a formal education.
American educator John Dewey wrote that “education
is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” If we
are willing and open, we can learn something new
every day of our lives!
Much of the excitement and passion that we share
for stamping is rooted in the fact that so much of
this hobby is about learning—new techniques, new
products, new projects. We learn something new
almost every time we sit down to stamp, don’t we?
Even when we stamp alone, we’re trying new things,
but especially when we stamp with others, the
opportunity to share what we know is stimulating!
Whether we’re heading back to school ourselves—
or know someone who is—this time of year can be
an exciting time of learning for all of us! I encourage
you to be aware of learning opportunities all around
you, and embrace those opportunities! Life truly is
an education, and I am so grateful to be sharing my
education with you!
