Creating
with
One of the most popular classes in any
school is wood shop, and for good reason
(not simply because there’s no homework).
There’s something elemental about creating
with wood—the smell, the texture, the
appearance—that entices everyone from
school kids to retired adults.
Now you can enjoy the satisfaction of creating
with wood on papercrafting projects. If your
customers want a different look in accents
or struggle to find masculine accents, show
them how they can create their own with
Texture Cuts Wood Sheets. Each package
contains four 5-3/4" x 13-3/4" sheets, so
they’re an economical choice for a workshop
Make & Take project.
Wood Sheets are real birch wood, but they’re
thin enough to cut, and the paper backing
prevents the wood from splintering or
cracking. Try embossing them with
cutting them with the Big Shot, and then
inking them, as we did with the letters on
the Boo card.
You can stamp on Texture Cuts, but the
image won’t be as crisp as an image stamped
on paper because the ink will seep into the
grain of the wood. The resulting look may
be a delightful surprise. You can see how
on the Trick or Treat tag, the Old Olive ink
bleeds along the horizontal wood grain,
giving it the appearance of mist rising from
the ground.
Wood Sheets add unusual texture and
dimension to projects, and they’re easy
to customize. At your next workshop,
let your customers see firsthand how
simple it is to create with wood—no safety
goggles required!
tips
• We recommend that you use Wood
Sheets with Bigz dies, Originals dies,
embossing folders, punches, or scissors.
Cutting with other tools will produce
poor results.
• You may want to try stamping on Wood
Sheets scraps before stamping on your
project to make sure you like the results.
• To watercolor on Wood Sheets, stamp
the image in StazOn ink, then color. You
can color directly on the Wood Sheet
using Stampin’ Write Markers, then
smooth the color using an Aqua Painter.
• Sometimes the direction of the wood
grain will make a difference on your
project’s appearance. For example,
imagine how the Trick or Treat tag
would look different if the grain ran
vertically or diagonally.
• Because Wood Sheets are not acid free
or lignin free, we do not recommend
them for use in scrapbooks.
