the most. Are they seasoned stampers
who get excited about new products? If
so, your easiest first step is to consider the
catalog release schedule. Have a calendar
on hand, and show the group when the new
Idea Book & Catalog is released, as well
as the mini catalogs. Let them know that,
as a demonstrator, you have a preorder
opportunity for all these publications, so if
you schedule the workshops ahead of time,
they can be among the first to get their
hands on the new products! This kind of
group might also be motivated by getting
products for free, so make sure to schedule
one of the workshops during Sale-A-Bration.
Of course, if your group is made up of more
beginner stampers, or people who just like
to get out and stamp occasionally and hang
out together, take a look at seasons and
holidays. Do they need an excuse to have
a holiday party? Help them plan ahead to
make some fun Christmas projects. Do they
have a lot of birthdays in the springtime?
Plan a “birthday party” workshop, where
they can celebrate birthdays and get great
ideas for birthday cards. If it’s something
different every time, they’ll be excited and
look forward to each one.
Follow Up
Once you establish a group for recurring
workshops, keep their information on file.
Make notes about the individuals, such as
what excites them, what they like, don’t
like, etc. At the very least, make sure to
keep an accurate list of who attended the
first workshop, and any new people who are
added to the group later, so you can make
sure the same people are invited each time.
When you set your dates for the year, you may
want to decide who is going to be the hostess
at each one. Keep a “tickler” file to remind you
when those workshops are coming up and
who the hostess is, so you can get the process
started with each hostess in plenty of time.
Don’t forget we have a fantastic new Hostess
Benefits program, so you shouldn’t have to
convince anyone to volunteer for their turn!
You may be asking yourself, “If I have a
regular group and regularly scheduled events
with rotating hostesses, how is this different
than a club?” Truth is, it should be easier to
set up a recurring workshop with a particular
group because it’s low-pressure. It’s all fun!
There’s no financial commitment, and it’s
not as frequent. Because it’s more relaxed,
you can appeal to all kinds of groups—not
just regular customers!
New customers and new hostesses are
essential to a Stampin’ Up! business, so new
workshops with new people should always be
a goal, and will keep your business moving
forward (after all, you never know where
your next group of “regulars” will come
from!). But make a goal to find two recurring
workshop groups for the coming year, and
it will help you establish the workshop
habit, making it easier to do more. Using
this approach will allow you to book once
for multiple workshops! And it allows both
you and your hostess to plan ahead—and
your group to anticipate each event and get
excited! Better yet, you’ll begin to establish a
schedule of regular events, helping you reach
your business goals, whether that’s just
maintaining your minimum, or achieving a
volume rebate and beyond!
