Let’s Do That Again!
Recurring workshops will help
you maintain consistent activity
and meet your goals.
If you’ve ever been on a quest to fill your
workshop calendar, but have dreaded calling
all your previous hostesses to invite them to
book a workshop again, you’re not alone. You
might also be telling yourself that you simply
don’t have anyone left to call!
You’re on the right track, though, in
considering your previous hostesses. As
most demonstrators know, an established
hostess is your best hostess: she’s already
enthusiastic about the products, and she
knows what to do at her workshop. But
what if you didn’t have to approach her
over and over with the idea of hosting a
new workshop? What if you could set up a
regular schedule of workshops with your
best hostesses?
Many demonstrators have used clubs to
generate regular business, but you can
apply this same concept to your workshop
schedule, too. Setting up recurring
workshops with the same group of people
(encouraging your hostess to invite
additional people each time) can also help
generate regular business and keep your
workshop schedule full.
Find Your Group
Not all hostesses or groups are ideal for
recurring workshops, but there are some
pretty clear signs to help you identify the
perfect opportunity. Look for the hostess
who has a group that likes to get together
frequently anyway, such as a neighborhood,
family, or church group. During that first
workshop, you can take the time to get to
know the individual workshop guests and
become familiar with that particular group
dynamic. Do they regularly have evenings
out together? Are they looking for an
opportunity to get out more often?
As the workshop draws to a close, you
could say, “Wasn’t it fun getting together and
stamping like this? How about we plan to do it
once every few months with this same group?
You rotate the hostess duties and gifts and I’ll
bring the very latest in catalogs, products, and
techniques to demonstrate. Let’s say the second
Saturday of each quarter? That way you can all
get it on your calendars and look forward to it!”
If you haven’t scheduled a workshop with a
potential hostess yet, you can still listen for
the cues that the potential workshop group
would be a good candidate for a recurring
schedule. Perhaps the potential hostess has
several sisters whom she likes to get together
with on a regular basis. You could say, “I
know you love getting together with your sisters
and mom for crafting. I’ve got a great idea—let’s
plan to meet when new products and catalogs
come out and I’ll bring the latest techniques and
stamps to show you. It can be your own special
family time and you can all plan to pamper
yourselves with an evening out!”
Anticipating an evening out with people you
love to be with is half the fun, and knowing
you get to do it again every few months is
even better! Setting up a recurring workshop
group not only helps fill your schedule, but
it can fill the need for social interaction
and creativity that the workshop guests are
craving anyway!
Set Your Schedule
Luckily, you don’t need to look too hard
for reasons to get a regular group together.
In fact, it’s one of your best selling points!
Having regularly scheduled workshops lends
itself to customization around holidays,
new catalogs, mini catalogs, and major
promotions, like Sale-A-Bration.
During your first workshop with the group,
you can listen for what would interest them
