2.1 Purpose
The purpose of this Plan is ‘to develop a
shared vision for council and the community
and prepare a robust Aquatic Plan to guide
the current and future provision of facilities
and services that meet the needs of our
diverse communities.'
2.2 Methodology
The methodology applied in the Sunshine Coast
Aquatic Plan 2011-2026 is outlined in Figure 1:

2.3 Scope
The scope of this Plan:

is focussed on built infrastructure such as
publicly accessible swimming pools and
leisure water and excludes natural waterways
such as lakes, rivers and beaches
covers the geographical area defined by
Sunshine Coast Council local government
boundaries, with findings referenced through
the region’s 44 Localities of Interest
the provision of aquatic facilities
encompassing land and land use planning
implications only where Sunshine Coast
Council has a role in the network.
