Certificate in Education for Health<br />
Professions<br />
In partnership with the College of Human<br />
and Health Sciences, the College of<br />
Medicine will be providing modules<br />
for this new programme, which will<br />
commence in September 2012 (subject<br />
to validation). This new course has been<br />
designed to provide all health care<br />
professionals involved in medical<br />
education and clinical training an<br />
opportunity to develop a better<br />
understanding of their own clinical<br />
practice and values as well as an<br />
advanced understanding of education<br />
and their practice as teachers.<br />
Continued Professional<br />
Development (CPD) Opportunities<br />
The College of Medicine is committed to<br />
the provision of a structured and supportive<br />
skills enhancement framework for<br />
continued personal and professional<br />
development, which allows clinicians,<br />
educationalists and scientists the<br />
opportunity to undertake M level education<br />
to support their professional roles. With<br />
this in mind, the majority of modules<br />
offered as part of the programmes detail<br />
above are available as standalone CPD<br />
courses.<br />
Assessment<br />
Trauma Surgery and Trauma Surgery<br />
(Military):<br />
Assessment in the clinical modules will<br />
be built around the development and<br />
demonstration of strategic thinking, with<br />
written assessment of core knowledge<br />
and its application in unseen written<br />
papers together with moulage skills<br />
practical examinations. Essays and<br />
portfolio preparation will supplement<br />
these core assessments.<br />
MSc/Diploma Liquid Chromatography<br />
Mass Spectrometry, <strong>Postgraduate</strong><br />
Certificate in Applied Liquid<br />
Chromatography Mass Spectrometry:<br />
Assessment for the taught modules will<br />
include examinations, case studies,<br />
essays, presentations, and problem sheets.<br />
The MSc project will be assessed through<br />
a written dissertation supplemented by<br />
student-led presentations.<br />
Students who wish to enrol on the<br />
<strong>Postgraduate</strong> Certificate will be required<br />
to pass an interview with an entry<br />
examination testing their background<br />
knowledge of separation sciences and<br />
mass spectrometry, prior to acceptance.<br />
Applicants wishing to pursue the MSc as<br />
a continuation of studies, as a transfer or<br />
upgrade from the <strong>Postgraduate</strong> Diploma<br />
or Certificate will only be accepted for<br />
enrolment the following academic year.<br />
Applications will include an academic<br />
reference in the field of interest to confirm<br />
practical and academic ability.<br />
