We have teaching and research links<br />
with more than 100 partner universities<br />
around the world, from Europe, Asia and<br />
Australasia, to North and South America.<br />
Many links have been established by<br />
individual Academic Colleges and<br />
Departments, so you should speak<br />
with your Department to discuss the<br />
opportunities that are available to you.<br />
Erasmus Mundus Master’s<br />
degrees<br />
Erasmus Mundus is the EU programme<br />
that offers scholarships to allow students<br />
to follow Master’s or Doctoral<br />
programmes at two or more European<br />
universities, leading to the award of an<br />
internationally recognised joint, double or<br />
multiple degree. <strong>Swansea</strong> <strong>University</strong> is a<br />
partner in two Erasmus Mundus Master’s<br />
degree schemes, in Computational<br />
Mechanics, and Journalism and Media<br />
within Globalisation.<br />

Working abroad<br />
You may be able to arrange your own<br />
paid or voluntary work placement<br />
overseas. In principal, we are happy to<br />
support all opportunities to gain<br />
international experience, but the<br />
placement will need to be approved by<br />
the year abroad coordinator for your<br />
course. Placements in most parts of<br />
Europe may also be eligible for support<br />
from the Erasmus programme.<br />
We have also developed a work<br />
placement scheme in India that builds<br />
links with anumber of multinational<br />
companies that have their offices in<br />
cities such as Bangalore, Mumbai,<br />
and Hyderabad.<br />
Summer programmes<br />
<strong>Swansea</strong> <strong>University</strong> has developed a<br />
portfolio of summer programmes in<br />
conjunction with overseas partners to suit<br />
every taste. Our summer programmes<br />
offer students the opportunity to gain<br />
valuable experience abroad during the<br />
summer holidays on structured,<br />
educational and fun trips. These<br />
programmes are suited to those students<br />
who are not able to go abroad as part of<br />
their degree, or for those who prefer to<br />
spend shorter periods away.<br />
Current programmes include study, work<br />
and volunteer programmes in Africa,<br />
America, Asia and Europe.<br />
We have sent hundreds of students<br />
abroad over recent years. They have had<br />
life changing experiences which they are<br />
happy to share with you through their<br />
pictures, videos, and blogs.<br />

Study Chinese – in China<br />
We offer students the opportunity to learn<br />
Mandarin Chinese alongside their<br />
degree. If you choose to take the<br />
extracurricular language classes in<br />
<strong>Swansea</strong>, you may also have the chance<br />
to spend up to four weeks in China<br />
during the summer, studying Chinese<br />
language and culture at one of our<br />
partner universities.<br />
Even if you can’t commit to the China<br />
trip, we recommend that you sign up for<br />
the language classes. China has a strong<br />
influence on the global economy, so<br />
being able to speak the language will<br />
boost your job prospects.<br />

Building skills in India<br />
We’re also developing new projects to<br />
help our students gain valuable study and<br />
work experience in India. Our Study in<br />
India programme enables students to<br />
experience life in India, combining<br />
lectures at a partner college with<br />
voluntary work at a rural development<br />
centre and with city-based charities.<br />
