Productivity Performance of the ICT
Industry
◦◦
The productivity of the ICT industry
registered a growth of 7.2%
in 2009. The telecommunications
services industry recorded a higher
growth of 13.1% as compared with
the computer services industry that
grew by 0.5% (Figure 3.15).
◦◦
The significant growth of
telecommunications services was
attributed to high efficiency in
business process through investment
in telecommunications facilities.
Labour Cost Competitiveness
◦◦
Labour cost competitiveness of ICT
industry improved as shown by high
productivity growth of 7.2% which
was higher than growth of labour
cost per employee of 1.2%, resulting
in unit labour cost to decline by
7.2%. The ICT industry succeeded
in maintaining the labour cost
competitiveness through skilled
workforce and intensification of
technologies adoption to enhance
business operation (Figure 3.16
and Figure 3.17).
