Guilin situated in the northeast of the Guangxi
Zhuang Autonomous Region on the west bank
of the Li River. Guilin is surrounded by two rivers
and four lakes and studded with sheer sided
Karst mountains. The scene of Li River is printed
on the back of ¥20 bank notes.
Yangshuo, 65 kilometers to the southeast of
Guilin, is the paradise for backpackers, highly
recommended in Lonely Planet guide book.
Fenghuang is located at the southwest ridge of
central China's Hunan Province. Fenghuang is
Chinese for 'phoenix', the mythical bird which
is a good omen and symbolizes longevity.
Fenghuang gets its name from a legend that two
of these fantastic birds flew over the town and
found the town so beautiful that they hovered
over it, reluctant to leave.
Generations of local people have stepped on the
lanes and worn them down bit by bit.
Rice Noodles are the most famous local
cuisine in Guilin. The rice noodles are cooked in
broth and served in a bowl of soup made from
pork, beef, garlic, peanuts, peppers, and radishes,
etc.
Visiting West Street, you will be surrounded by an array of traditional folk and amazing international elements.
This ancient town has a history of 1,300 years.
Mist envelopes the town in the early morning
or after a rain, creating a charming picturesque
scene of Southwest China.
