CHINESE WEDDING<br />
In Ch<strong>in</strong>a, marriage is considered to be one of the three most important th<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> one's whole life.<br />
Ch<strong>in</strong>ese wedd<strong>in</strong>g is a ceremonial ritual with<strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese societies that <strong>in</strong>volve a marriage established<br />
by pre-arrangement between families.<br />
Then the bride and groom will leave her home and proceed to meet the<br />
groom's parents for a Tea Ceremony. The couple needs to serve tea to both<br />
parents and guests. In return, they will be presented with jewelry and money<br />
placed <strong>in</strong> red envelopes.<br />
When the wedd<strong>in</strong>g day <strong>com</strong>es, the bride’s and<br />
groom’s families perform "hair dress<strong>in</strong>g" ritual<br />
for the bride and "capp<strong>in</strong>g" ritual for the groom,<br />
which symbolizes their <strong>in</strong>itiation <strong>in</strong>to adulthood<br />
and are important parts of the wedd<strong>in</strong>g<br />
preparations.<br />
The bride wears auspicious and festive red<br />
clothes, and the bridegroom would wear<br />
a special wedd<strong>in</strong>g suit ac<strong>com</strong>panied by a<br />
procession to pick up his bride.<br />
The feast or wedd<strong>in</strong>g banquet is an important<br />
part of the wedd<strong>in</strong>g. Wedd<strong>in</strong>g banquets are<br />
to thank family and friends for the k<strong>in</strong>dness<br />
they have shown throughout the years. Most<br />
feasts will serve a twelve course meal <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
delicacies like roasted pig.<br />
The night of the wedd<strong>in</strong>g, the bridal room will<br />
light dragon and phoenix candles to drive away<br />
the evil spirit, the newlyweds will dr<strong>in</strong>k w<strong>in</strong>e from<br />
two cups tied together with a red str<strong>in</strong>g, arms<br />
crossed with each other.
