VERITAS ® SMALL PLOW PLANE<br />
Closest in size to the classic Record #044<br />
plane, the preferred size of the old style plow<br />
plane, the Veritas ® small plow plane is ideal<br />
for quickly cutting grooves and rabbets, such<br />
as on drawer and box bottoms and cabinet<br />
backs, and in frame and panel construction.<br />
The 168mm long fence registers solidly to<br />
the workpiece and is through drilled to accommodate<br />
the addition of a wooden fence<br />
extension. The asymmetric fence grip has<br />
been sculpted to comfortably fit the natural<br />
curvatures of the hand. Double guide rods<br />
and a special collet locking system prevent<br />
the fence from racking. The large brass<br />
knobs make adjustments fast and easy<br />
without the need for tools; the fence can be<br />
offset from flush to 38mm from the 6.35mm<br />
blade. Best used in the direction of the grain,<br />
the plane comes with a 6.35mm wide lapped<br />
A2 tool steel blade; other blade widths (3.2,<br />
4.76, 8 and 9.5mm) are available separately.<br />

VERTICAL TOTES FOR VERITAS ®<br />
LOW-ANGLE BLOCK PLANE<br />
While investigating the development of a #3<br />
smoothing plane, we realised that our existing<br />
low-angle block plane had the same<br />
base size and 12° bed angle. So, rather than<br />
offer an entirely new plane, we designed a<br />
vertical tote that, when coupled with a tall<br />
front knob, lets the low-angle block plane<br />
function as a #3 bevel-up smoothing plane.<br />
By adding high-angle blades in 38° and<br />
50° bevels, you can use the plane to<br />
work difficult wood grains. The vertical<br />
tote provides a comfortable, firm grip<br />
for greater leverage and, with the tall<br />
knob, you can bear down quite heavily.<br />

PLANE SCREWDRIVER<br />
A regular screwdriver just doesn’t work well<br />
on cap iron screws. A narrow blade can mar<br />
the cap-screw slot, and there’s always the<br />
risk that the screwdriver tip will slip out of the<br />
slot altogether. We designed this screwdriver<br />
to make it both safe and easy to remove,<br />
replace or adjust cap irons. It has a turned<br />
brass collar surrounding the tip to capture<br />
the head of a cap iron screw up to 21/32”<br />
in diameter, and a generous bubinga knob<br />
for a comfortable, secure grip. Not only for<br />
Veritas ® planes, it fits all standard cap iron<br />
screws on current and vintage Record and<br />
Stanley planes as well.<br />

VERITAS ® JOINTER FENCE<br />
Planing a square edge on a board requires a<br />
jointer fence, whether you are using an electric<br />
jointer or a hand plane. The Veritas jointer<br />
fence allows you to shoot accurate and consistent<br />
square or bevelled edges with all iron<br />
or steel bench planes. The integral rare-earth<br />
magnets make it quick and easy to attach<br />
or remove the 279mm long anodised aluminium<br />
fence from either side of all sizes of<br />
bench plane, from a smoothing plane (#4) to<br />
a jointer (#7 or #8). As supplied, the 50mm<br />
tall guiding face can be used to plane edges<br />
perfectly square to the face of your workpiece.<br />
It can also be used to shoot angles<br />
less than 90° when a bevelled wooden guide<br />
is attached to the inside face of the fence.<br />
