DEGREES: M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology
ACCREDITATION: The graduate program is accredited by the Council of Academic
Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in speech-language
pathology.
CREDENTIALS DEADLINES: All official transcripts, GRE scores, and three
recommendations are required. Departmental receipt deadlines are February 25 for Fall
admission and September 25 for Spring admission.
PROGRAM ADMISSION: In addition to the University requirements for admission to the
Graduate School at ULM, applicants for admission to the Master of Science in Speech-
Language Pathology degree program must meet at least two of the following criteria:
1. A minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5.
2. A minimum combined score of 800 on the GRE General Test (Verbal plus
Quantitative).
3. A combined score of 1875, determined by multiplying the total undergraduate gradepoint
average by the combined GRE General Test Scores (Verbal plus Quantitative).
GRE verbal and quantitative scores cannot be older than two years from the date you
wish to apply. The best verbal and the best quantitative scores within that 2 year
period will be used as part of your final application assessment.
Admission is selective and competitive. Applicants who fail to meet the above
standards may be admitted on conditional status as recommended by the Graduate
Admission and Retention Committee of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology in
concert with the Dean of the Graduate School.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate requirements: 51 semester hours in the
area of speech-language pathology.
Requirements for a major (Non-thesis): 37 semester hours of coursework within the
area of speech-language pathology, including Speech-Language Pathology 505 and
excluding clinic and internship.
Requirements for a major (Thesis): 45 semester hours in the area of speech-language
pathology, including Speech-Language Pathology 505 and 6 semester hours of 599
(Thesis).
A student’s plan of study is to be determined with the guidance of a major professor.
Students seeking the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-
Language-Hearing Association must meet the academic coursework and clinical practicum
requirements established for such certification prior to graduation.
