Embankments, which are formed of materials that contain rock but also<br />

contain sufficient compatible material other than rock or other hard material<br />

to make rolling feasible, shall be placed and compacted in the manner and to<br />

the point of consolidation approved by the Engineer. Moisture shall be added<br />

as directed by the Engineer. Compaction tests will be made wherever the<br />

Engineer determines they are feasible and necessary. Each layer must be<br />

approved by the Engineer before the next layer is placed.<br />

2.24.5 Measurement and Payment<br />

1st) Measurement<br />

Embankment including rockfill will be measured in cubic meters by the<br />

average end area method. The volume paid for shall be to the lines and levels<br />

shown on the Drawings. and calculated by the Engineer's Representative.<br />

Measurement of ducts shall be made in linear meter laid in place in respect of<br />

each diameter separately.<br />

2nd) Payment<br />

The accepted quantities of Embankment measured as provided above shall be<br />

paid for at the Contract unit price complete in place including placing,<br />

watering and compacting and the accepted quantities of ducts measured as<br />

above shall be paid for at the Contract unit price complete in place as<br />

specified including excavation, backfilling, compaction, etc.<br />

Payment will be made under:<br />

Pay Item<br />

Embankment<br />

Pay Unit<br />

Cubic Meter/Sq. Meter/as mentioned in B.O.Q.<br />

The diameter of ducts shall be as shown in the Bill of Quantities.<br />

2.24.6 Relevant Tests and Standards<br />

The following tests should be carried out unless otherwise directed by the Engineer<br />

at frequencies laid down in the specifications:-<br />
