Confirm your qualification<br />
The first step in registration is confirming your qualification. Work through the following information carefully if you are registering for any<br />
qualification for the first time in <strong>2013</strong>. If you are a returning <strong>Unisa</strong> student and wish to choose a new qualification, we suggest that you<br />
also work through this information to ensure that you meet all the minimum and qualification-specific admission requirements.<br />

Higher certificate Diploma Bachelor's degree<br />
College <strong>of</strong> Agriculture and Environmental Sciences<br />
• A National Senior<br />
Certificate (NSC), with at<br />
least 30% in the language<br />
<strong>of</strong> teaching and learning,<br />
or<br />
• A Senior Certificate, with at<br />
least 30%* in the language<br />
<strong>of</strong> teaching and learning in<br />
terms <strong>of</strong> the NSC,<br />
or<br />
• A National Certificate<br />
(Vocational) Level 4, with at<br />
least 30% in the language<br />
<strong>of</strong> teaching and learning in<br />
terms <strong>of</strong> the NSC.<br />
• A National Senior Certificate (Diploma<br />
endorsement) with at least 50% in the<br />
language <strong>of</strong> teaching and learning and<br />
Mathematics with at least 40%,<br />
or<br />
• A Senior Certificate with at least an<br />
equivalent <strong>of</strong> 50%* in terms <strong>of</strong> the NSC, in<br />
the language <strong>of</strong> learning and teaching; and<br />
Mathematics with at least an equivalent <strong>of</strong><br />
40%* as in the NSC,<br />
or<br />
• A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4<br />
with at least an equivalent <strong>of</strong> 60%* in terms<br />
<strong>of</strong> the NSC, in the language <strong>of</strong> learning and<br />
teaching; and Mathematics with at least an<br />
equivalent <strong>of</strong> 40%* as in the NSC.<br />
A student who has not obtained at least 50%<br />
in the language <strong>of</strong> teaching and learning; 50% in<br />
Mathematics and Physical Science will be limited<br />
to 48 credits at NQF level 5 in their first period <strong>of</strong><br />
study and must register for –<br />
• To meet the language requirement:<br />
• /Students whose Language <strong>of</strong> Learning<br />
and Teaching is English: ENG1511 (English<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>iciency for university studies) and<br />
ENN103F (English for academic purposes).<br />
• /Students whose Language <strong>of</strong> Learning<br />
and Teaching is Afrikaans: AFK1502<br />
(Basiese teksvaardighede) and AFK1503<br />
(Contemporary Afrikaans: Language studies<br />
and written communication).<br />
• A National Senior Certificate (Degree endorsement)<br />
with at least 50% in the language <strong>of</strong> teaching and<br />
learning, and Mathematics with at least 50%,<br />
or<br />
• A Senior Certificate with matriculation exemption<br />
or qualify for the exemption from the Matriculation<br />
Board, with at least an equivalent <strong>of</strong> 50%* in terms<br />
<strong>of</strong> the NSC in the language <strong>of</strong> learning and teaching;<br />
and Mathematics with at least an equivalent <strong>of</strong><br />
50%*, as in the NSC,<br />
or<br />
• A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at<br />
least an equivalent <strong>of</strong> 60%* in terms <strong>of</strong> the NSC,<br />
in the language <strong>of</strong> learning and teaching; and<br />
Mathematics with at least an equivalent <strong>of</strong> 50%* as<br />

All 48 credits will have to be passed before<br />
the student can continue with the Diploma<br />
curriculum.<br />

A student who does not meet the admission<br />
requirements may apply for admission into a diploma.<br />
