Unsteady flow simulations of casing treatments are performed using elsA. Control devices are connected<br />

to the main compressor grid using either a Chimera technique or a sliding mesh method. Numerical results<br />

obtained with and without casing treatment are compared and validated with experimental data [CFD78].<br />

In order to understand the influence of casing treatment on the flow, a budget analysis of the unsteady axial<br />

momentum equation is performed on a control volume located in the rotor tip region (the so-called MARS<br />

tool [CFD50]), following the idea proposed by Shabbir and Adamczyk [24].<br />
