Appendix C. Diagnostic Tools Displaying Fonts Displaying Fonts You can display the character bitmaps of a selected font that is assigned to a specific RIP by clicking the RIP tool and selecting Tools → Fonts. The Fonts dialog opens. The fonts appear in the Fonts list box. When you click on a font, any subfonts associated with that font appear in the Subfonts list box. Each character in the font is listed in the Characters list box. Information for the selected font and/or character appears in the Font and Character group boxes. For fonts, this information includes the name, rotation, and horizontal and vertical escapement. For characters, this information includes the dimensions, horizontal and vertical escapement, and horizontal and vertical offset. Click Show Nothing to leave the display area at the bottom of the dialog empty. Click Show Font to display all of the characters in the selected font in the display area. Click Show Character to display the selected character in the display area. C - 4
Glossary This glossary contains terms used with KODAK VERSAMARK Printing Systems. aspect ratio A ratio of width to height. bitmap An arrangement of dots that represents text or graphics. The data station uses the dots in an arrangement of binary 1s and 0s to represent the presence and absence of ink drops and sends this data to the printheads. charge voltage A voltage that determines whether an ink drop receives a charge. An operator can adjust the charge voltage. CMYK Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. The primary colors used for process color reproduction. cue mark A preprinted mark on a web that is the reference point for the start of a new document. data station The component of the printing system that receives character-coded input data and produces image data in bitmapped format that is sent to the printheads at the print stations. document A unit of input data that is printed in one area of the substrate.
