• The Family and Youth Service aims to assist parents, families, and young
people (between 16-24 years old) affected by mental illness. The focus is on
prevention and early intervention, and responding to the identified local need.
Service area includes the Top End. Service areas covered include Darwin
Urban and Rural Palmerston Urban and Rural Jabiru and Katherine. Referrals
are accepted from any source.
• The Manse is a specialist 24-hour long-term psychosocial rehabilitation
residential program designed to support people with psychiatric disability who
are unable to live independently in the community. The program focuses on
relearning or learning living skills within. Referrals are accepted through Top
End Mental Health Service.
• The Personal Helpers and Mentors Program is designed to improve the
quality of life of individuals with a functional limitation resulting from a severe
and persistent mental illness. The aim of the program is to provide increased
opportunities for recovery for people by providing access to appropriate
support services, increased personal capacity and self reliance, and increased
community participation. Service areas covered include Belyuen, Howard
Springs, Girraween, Herbert and Humpty Doo, Noonamah, Berry Springs,
Batchelor, Adelaide River and Belyuen. Referrals are accepted from any
source.
• Recovery Assistance Program provides recovery-focussed psychosocial
rehabilitation and outreach services to people affected by mental illness. The
program supports people in the development and achievement of goals, and
skills in the areas or living, learning, working and socialising. Service areas
covered include urban and rural Darwin, urban and rural Palmerston and
Katherine. Referrals are accepted from any source.
• The Respite Program provides options for people caring for a person with
a mental illness. The program provides flexible options including: in-home
respite; overnight stays; week or longer activities. To be eligible people
must have a carer. Service area includes the Top End and Central Australia.

• The Sub Acute Care Program - Papaya is a 9 bed residential facility that
provides intensive individualised support for up to four weeks for people with a
mental illness experiencing an increase of symptoms of mental illness. It aims
to reduce hospital admission and improve the likelihood of early discharge from
the acute psychiatric unit Cowdy Ward at Royal Darwin Hospital. Referrals
are accepted through Top End Mental Health Service.
