INFANTILE DISEASES
Abnormal Head Posture in a Patient With Normal Ocular Motility: Sandifer
Syndrome.
Kostakis, A et al.
JPOS 2008;45: 57-58.
Sandifer syndrome consists of torticollis and dystonic body posturing
and movements in association with gasteroesophageal reflux
with or without a hiatus hernia. Ophthalmologists may be the
first clinician consulted to evaluate the head tilt, especially in the
absence of neurologic features. Pediatric ophthalmologists in particular
should be aware of this syndrome and well-versed in the
differential diagnosis of head tilt in the absence of ocular findings.
