American, 19th century. Aseptic surgical set in a fitted leather case by
Sharp & Smith, Chicago, Illinois, including skull saw, Nelaton’s bullet
probe, bone forceps, finger saw, chisel, trephine, tourniquet, and forceps.
Beneath instrument is a diagram identifying each piece. 3”h. 12 3/4”w.
7 3/4”d.
Included is a card identifying its original owner as Dr. F.E. Dostal,
Riverview, Illinois, purported to have been a Union Army doctor during
the Civil War.

compartments, drop lid desk and secret compartment with swivel
compartments and tool caddy. Crest with shelf and mirror and dolphin
