Mary Gano, Hunterdon or Somerset County,<br />

1838, silk on linen. Family record of the<br />

Samuel Gano and Margaret Hoagland and their<br />

eight children. Floral surrounds the registry and<br />

a verse, the lower portion is centered by a large<br />

house flanked by palm trees. Bright colors. In a<br />

frame with mirrored mat, 25"h. 31 1/2"w.<br />

Minor imperfection.<br />

Mary was their fourth child and is recorded as<br />

being born in Hunterdon County. Five years<br />

later the family was in Bridgewater township,<br />

Somerset County, where Mary is listed in the<br />

1850 census living with her parents and her<br />

four younger siblings.<br />
