15.2.2 ICPMS<br />
ICPMS diluted samples to be analyzed on Elan 9000 for 90A samples and Nexion for<br />
91B packages.<br />
Working Calibration solutions and 2 nd source calibration check solution was prepared for<br />
each analysis run. Re-calibration was done before the analysis of each tray. Additional<br />
fusion QC was analyzed every other tray in addition to the QC on each tray.<br />
REE interference corrections were evaluated and corrected.<br />
15.2.3 ICP/OES<br />
Samples are analyzed with a minimum of 10 certified reference materials for the required<br />
analyses, all prepared by sodium peroxide fusion. Every 10 th sample is prepared and<br />
analyzed in duplicate; a blank is prepared every 30 samples and analyzed. Samples are<br />
analyzed using a Varian 735ES ICP or a Thermo 6500 ICAP and the method of internal<br />
standardization.<br />
For High concentration of REE, the IMS91B analysis technic was used.<br />
Crushed and pulverized rock, samples (0.20 gr) are fused by Sodium peroxide in glassy<br />
carbon crucibles in a muffle furnace and dissolved using diluted HNO3. The fused<br />
solution sample is aspirated into the Inductively Coupled Plasma Dynamic Reaction Cell<br />
Mass Spectrometre (ICP-DRC-MS). Samples are analyzed against known calibration<br />
materials to provide quantitative analysis of the original sample.<br />
