campaign As the FRD Chair, and in my own philanthropy, I am passionate about securing the well-being of our Jewish community as well as our people, today and into the future. While we are a large community, we are still very young compared to cities like Chicago, Boston or New York, where endowments have been in place for generations. We’re committed to meeting the ever-growing needs around us. As I complete my three-year tenure as Campaign Chair, I am thrilled to report that our Annual Campaign is increasing. There’s a buzz in the air. If you’ve come to some of our dynamic campaign events recently, you’ve seen and felt it. From our country clubs and divisions, from Women’s Philanthropy, and major donor functions to THE EVENT, the revitalization of our campaign and community is unmistakable. So I’m thrilled that we’re moving to a new stage of life as a community, coming together to take great strides toward a brighter Jewish future. Our Foundation’s brand new Promises Kept Endowment Campaign has already brought in over $3.2 million in received and expected dollars. The 15 local synagogue, agency and school partners in our Create a Jewish Legacy program have raised more than $4 million in expected funds as the initiative ends its second year. In addition, 16 visionary women protected their annual Lion of Judah gifts forever with generous endowments. And our Annual Campaign is up with signs of growth and expansion everywhere. Today, the future of our Federation is looking bright! Have a wonderful summer, We’re reaching out wider and deeper than ever before to engage people throughout our community at all levels – with new King David Society programming, initiatives like Emerging Jewish Philanthropists, the rejuvenated Business & Professional Division, young adult activities and more. We’ve jumpstarted with Campaign Ignition and restored the Campaign Cabinet. We’re traveling to Cuba, DC, Russia, Greece and, of course, Israel, returning inspired to do more. Looking back on how far we’ve come, I couldn’t be more proud. As I move on to chair Planning & Allocations, please join me in welcoming our next Campaign Chair, Betty Kane. King David Society Thank You Features Mideast Briefing with Bret Stephens Members of our Federation’s prestigious King David Society (KDS) enjoyed an up-to-the-minute Middle East briefing at their season’s Thank You Reception on April 24. Board Chair Ellen R. Sarnoff opened her beautiful home in Boca Grove to this deeply committed group of generous philanthropists who contribute $25,000 or more to our Federation’s Annual Campaign. Barbara Feingold, KDS Chair, welcomed the guests to the elegant evening. To date, our Federation has 100 families at the KDS level and above, adding 17 new families this season alone. Joe Mishkin, Barbara Feingold, Bret Stephens, Ellen R. Sarnoff campaign Amy Ross, Phyllis Sandler, Robin Rubin Larry and Diane Feldman, KDS Mission Chairs shared details of the next exclusive KDS travel opportunity: A Mission to Greece and Israel. While for many, Bret Stephens needs no introduction, Joe Mishkin did the honors – including congratulating Bret on his recent Pulitzer Prize for Journalism Commentary. Stephens, a former editor in chief of The Jerusalem Post and now Deputy Editorial Page Editor of The Wall Street Journal, was riveting as always.
