Irv and his wife had three children—a daughter Lori, a physical therapist in Ashville, North Carolina; a son Fred, a chiropractor in Tuscon, Arizona; and ason Gary, a small-business owner in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Irv also has three granddaughters and one grandson. Irv’s wife passed away in 2008 after 62 years of marriage. LaurEE gabLE Lauree was born and raised in New York. And, the community will be a virtually self-contained unit,” says Irv, “offering arts and crafts, lectures and card games, just to name a few perks.” They play plenty of golf and are frequent patrons of the theater. “Lauree has made a cultural person out of me,” he notes. “Thanks to her, I have developed an appreciation for the symphony and other cultural outings.” While it was two different journeys that brought them together, Lauree and Irv now find themselves at the same crossroads in life. “We are both thinking of our future,” says Lauree, “and Sinai Residences has attracted us for a number of reasons. Foremost, we want to make these important decisions for ourselves.” Her children, she points out, are very pleased with her decision. “My son thinks it is a wonderful idea, and my daughter said, “Mom, I cannot thank you enough for taking this off our shoulders.” As longtime residents of Boca Raton, the location of Sinai Residences is also key to both Irv and Lauree. “We had looked at several Independent Living communities, but when we found Sinai, we realized that it is everything we are looking for; it will be new, close to where our friends live, and on the grounds of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County campus. And, the community will be a virtually self-contained unit,” says Irv, “offering arts and crafts, lectures and card games, just to name a few perks.” Lauree is looking forward to the cultural opportunities, as well as the amenities and services. “There are so many interesting things going on at the Federation,” she says. “And, I love that we won’t have to shop for, prepare, and clean up after meals. I’ll have the opportunity to cook if I want to, but I won’t have to, and that is a plus.” She also plans on frequenting the spa and pool, and taking full advantage of the social offerings. While they are focused on fun, the benefits of the continuum of care are not lost on this forward-looking couple. “We are healthy now, but no one knows what tomorrow will bring,” says Lauree, “and a Continuing Care Retirement Community is like an insurance policy.” Irv points out that the timing of the community was also an important factor in their decision. “We aren’t quite ready yet,” he says, “but by the time Sinai Residences becomes available in a couple of years, we will be.” It was most important for Irv and Lauree to be situated where they could continue to nurture their well-established Boca Largo connections. “We don’t have to give up anything,” says Irv, “and we only stand to gain a whole new community.” For more information about Sinai Residences of Boca Raton, contact 561-338-9595 or visit www.sinairesidences.com.
