Sister City
Of course, the PAC’s Israel Mission included
a visit to Kiryat Bialik. Their highlights
included meeting with Mayor Eli Dukorsky at
the “Yad LeBanim” fallen soldiers memorial
followed by a visit to the “Moadonit”
afterschool program supported by the PAC
members, themselves. Community leaders
also graciously opened their homes for
intimate meetings – some strengthening
family relationships begun during the recent
Women’s Exchange or other visits.

Learning Together across the
Globe – Virtually
Educators and students from South Palm Beach County and Kiryat
Bialik have been forming relationships, exchanging visits and
collaborating on projects for a decade. This year, they’ve been
thoroughly enjoying learning and working together through virtual
exchanges. The Boca-Bialik connection continues to grow and succeed!
Students at B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton and Donna
Klein Jewish Academy have been using Skype to “meet” online with
their peers at Kadima School in KB. While they began with our local
students speaking English and the Israelis speaking Hebrew, by the
end of the year they were communicating in each other’s languages.

have been emailing letters and photos to stay in touch.

speak with DKJA students about
our Sister City and being part of
Klal Yisrael, the Jewish people.
March of the Living Visits
Kiryat Bialik
While in Israel, the 52 students in South Palm Beach
County’s 2013 March of the Living delegation followed
precedent. They enjoyed home hospitality for a night with
new and old friends in Kiryat Bialik, with whom they’re
sure to stay in touch electronically. The students also
participated in both the municipal and ORT High School
observances of Yom HaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day,
laying wreaths in moving ceremonies that made clear the
impact of the widespread losses experienced by families
through war and terror.
We are very pleased and proud to announce plans for a
community-wide leadership mission to Israel November 5-13,
2013. The mission includes our participation in the Jewish
Federations of North America (JFNA) General Assembly in
Jerusalem (November 10-13). The goal and purpose of this
mission is to bring together the lay and professional leadership
of our community – Federation, synagogues, day schools, and
organizations – to learn and experience Israel together. As part
of the GA we will join our friends and colleagues from around
the world to discuss the issues facing the Jewish world today. .
We will have the opportunity to hear from top level government
officials, Jewish thinkers, NGOs and entrepreneurs.
We believe this will be a transformative moment for our
community. We will celebrate Israel @ 65 and use our time
together to learn, challenge and inspire each other to become
even better Jewish leaders!
