Welcome to Chai Life A New Dawn for Our Jewish Community As our season draws to a close, you have once again brought the words Feed, Protect, Teach, Inspire, Save and Comfort to life. You have responded with generosity and compassion. And we couldn’t be more proud or grateful. Yet something new and exciting is also among us. You can feel the exhilaration on our campus, at meetings, on missions, at events and activities, as we greet each other and work together. It’s been building since our women roared into the Big Apple last Fall with the largest delegation from outside the NYC area at the International Lion of Judah Conference… through the joyful, moving Sandler Family Major Gifts Event…to THE EVENT, a community-wide celebration that brought together 500 people from synagogues, partner agencies, schools and beyond, from seasoned leaders to newcomers. The momentum kept building as our season culminated last month at Israel Fest 65, where nearly 3,000 people saw, heard and felt our vibrant Jewish diversity. All ages, backgrounds, and neighborhoods joined together to celebrate the miracles of our homeland and showcase our collective resources and talents. The pride and love were palpable — for Israel, for our people — and for our own Jewish community. It’s nothing short of a transformative revitalization of our community coming together to care for each other. Our recent 2013 Annual Meeting looked back on “An Epic Year,” and envisioned a bright future for our community. Our Annual Campaign and endowments are up. We’ve launched new initiatives for everyone from, infants to major donors. There’s no doubt that our efforts are indeed building a stronger community. We extend deepest thanks to a few key leaders who are moving on after helping us reach this juncture: Joseph Mishkin, Campaign Chair; Stephen Mendelsohn, Planning & Allocations Chair; Betty Kane, Chair, Israel & Overseas; and Rabbi David Steinhardt, who chaired our JCRC. Another promising development for the campus and the Federation is Sinai Residences, the luxurious state-of-the-art Continuing Care Retirement Community, that is moving toward construction on the north campus. We look forward to having new neighbors in 2015. Learn more at www.sinairesidences.com or call 561.922.7156. And it’s not too late to contribute to the Annual Campaign!
