greater and lesser trochanter, tearing of the articular
capsule and ligamentum teres and interposition of the
adductor muscles. Apart from his age (14 years), there
were no other risk factors.
CONCLUSION
Traumatic anterior dislocation of the hip in
childhood is very rare, with the perineal variant being
extremely rare. Closed reduction should be performed
under general anesthesia. If unsuccessful, a surgical
procedure should then be performed immediately,
as was necessary in our patient. Avascular necrosis,
although not very common, is the most serious
complication. We assume that the severity of the injury
played a decisive role in the development of this
complication in our patient, who had no risk factors
apart from age.
