PERSONAL<br />

Brandon is single and spends his summers in Sylvan Lake, alberta… He was the<br />

ninth member of his family drafted into the <strong>NHL</strong>, joining his father Brent (1980,<br />

17th overall, NY islanders), uncles Brian (1976, 20th overall, St. Louis), darryl (1979,<br />

179th overall, Chicago), duane (1979, 17th overall, NY islanders), Rich (1982, 10th<br />

overall, Pittsburgh) and Ron (1982, 4th overall, Philadelphia) and cousins Shaun<br />

(1998, 102nd overall, Calgary) and Brett (2005, 179th overall, Calgary)… The<br />

<strong>Hurricanes</strong> acquired Brandon’s cousin Brett in a trade with Calgary in November<br />

2010, and selected another cousin, Brody, in the seventh round of the <strong>2011</strong> <strong>NHL</strong><br />

entry draft… His father, Brent, was his head coach in junior hockey with Red deer<br />

(WHL) and is now the head coach of the Calgary Flames… Brandon participates<br />

in the Sutter Fund Charity Golf Classic in Red deer each summer, benefiting minor<br />

hockey and other children’s causes in alberta… Brandon started playing hockey<br />

hockey moment was winning the 2008 World Junior Championship… His favorite<br />
