Director’s message The mission of the Arizona Department of Public Safety is to protect human life and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activity, assuring highway and public safety and providing vital scientific, technical and operational support to other criminal justice agencies. Dear Governor Napolitano and the citizens of Arizona: It is my privilege to submit to you the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s annual report for fiscal year 2006. The activities and major accomplishments contained in this report reflect the quality and dedication of the members of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Although one of our primary missions is focused on highway safety throughout Arizona, this report demonstrates the wide array of comprehensive services and programs we provide for our citizens and those visiting the state. Members of the Arizona Department of Public Safety are dedicated professionals who take tremendous pride in their work, although their labors may go unnoticed. This report is a summary of their efforts to improve public safety and enhance the quality of life in Arizona. Thank you for your support and assistance during 2006.
