Domestic Preparedness Command<br />
• Centralizes all <strong>DPS</strong> terrorist response functions under one command.<br />
• Provides 24-hour, 7-days-a-week link to the <strong>Department</strong> for assistance in public information.<br />
• Maintains a secure website which is accessible by law enforcement and responder agencies nationwide.<br />
Governor=s Protection Detail<br />
• Provides security and transportation to the governor and the governor=s family.<br />
• Provides assistance to executive protection units from other states and to visiting governors/dignitaries.<br />
Narcotics and Organized Crime Bureau<br />
• Enforces state narcotics laws by conducting investigations <strong>of</strong> groups and individuals who manufacture,<br />
distribute, and sell illegal drugs.<br />
• Enhances cooperative efforts in drug enforcement by administering and participating in a wide<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> federal, state, and local task forces.<br />
• Furthers narcotics investigations initiated by Highway Patrol Division <strong>of</strong>ficers to identify and disrupt<br />
drug-smuggling organizations using state highways.<br />
• Assists Highway Patrol Division <strong>of</strong>ficers with processing drug seizures and other investigations<br />
requiring in-depth investigative efforts.<br />
• Identifies, investigates and eradicates clandestine drug laboratories throughout the state.<br />
• Provides expert assistance to criminal justice agencies with the investigation <strong>of</strong> and dismantling <strong>of</strong><br />
clandestine drug laboratories.<br />
• Monitors the sale <strong>of</strong> and distribution <strong>of</strong> regulated chemicals statewide in accordance with state law,<br />
to disrupt efforts to divert legitimate chemicals for the manufacture <strong>of</strong> illicit drugs.<br />
• Investigates fraud-related <strong>of</strong>fenses committed by government employees or private enterprises.<br />
• Disrupts criminal enterprises such as drug-trafficking and human-trafficking organizations by targeting<br />
the flow <strong>of</strong> illicit finances.<br />
• Investigates individuals and groups committing identity theft-related crimes<br />
• Investigates computer-related crimes including child pornography, cyber stalking, fraud, and intrusions<br />
into computer networks.<br />
• Provides investigative support to city, county, state, and federal criminal justice agencies with nationally-certified<br />
detectives recognized as experts in the field <strong>of</strong> search, seizure, and forensic imaging <strong>of</strong><br />
computer hard drives.<br />
• In addition to forensic computer support, provides forensic support for investigations involving other<br />
technology including audio and video enhancement, cell phone and pager technology, personal<br />
