*Recent scientific advances allowing DNA pr<strong>of</strong>iles to be generated from trace deposits <strong>of</strong> cells have resulted in a major increase in<br />

submissions for these <strong>of</strong>fenses.<br />

**In comparing previous statistics, the percent <strong>of</strong> change reflect typical variations in submissions which occur every year.<br />

***Digital imaging technology has reduced the number <strong>of</strong> prints developed by the Photo Lab as one set <strong>of</strong> images is copied to a CD<br />

versus three photographs printed for each negative. However, this has not reduced the workload <strong>of</strong> photographic specialists as the<br />

setup time for a negative versus the CD is comparable and the printing <strong>of</strong> three photographs per negative was automated.<br />
