Highway Patrol<br />
Division<br />
<strong>DPS</strong> continues to help in enforcement details and multi-agency dui task forces<br />
The Highway Patrol Division conducts statewide DUI, speed, aggressive driving and occupant restraint<br />
enforcement details as part <strong>of</strong> their continued and vigorous effort to reduce traffic crashes and injuries.<br />
These enforcement campaigns, which continued throughout FY <strong>2006</strong>, occur weekly throughout the state<br />
and augment the regular day-to-day enforcement activities conducted by members <strong>of</strong> the Highway Patrol<br />
Division. In addition to <strong>Department</strong> details, <strong>of</strong>ficers partner with other law enforcement agencies and take<br />
a leadership role to pool resources and provide a greater presence when enforcing DUI, speed, aggressive<br />
driving and occupant restraint violations.<br />
DUI, speed, aggressive driving and occupant restraint enforcement is the central goal <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Arizona</strong> <strong>Department</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> Strategic Plan. The following is a summary <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> the special enforcement<br />
activities <strong>DPS</strong> participated in during FY <strong>2006</strong>:<br />
• December, National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month<br />
• High Visibility Enforcement Campaigns<br />
• All 6 <strong>of</strong> the Combined Accident Reduction Enforcement (C.A.R.E.) periods<br />

• Grant funded seat belt enforcement campaigns<br />
• Aggressive Driving funded enforcement and media<br />
• Multi-agency enforcement details<br />
The Multi-Agency Enforcement Task Forces that the Highway Patrol Division participated in during FY<br />
<strong>2006</strong> included:<br />

• Southern <strong>Arizona</strong> DUI Task Force<br />
