8. HACC Service As part of Community Programs we provide allied health care:
Physiotherapy
Nutritionist
Nurse
Podiatrist
Occupational Therapist
We conduct assessment and intake and provide referrals to other
services and programs.
We also provide transport to some of the associated programs – see
below – and fort hospital and medical, dental appointments.
Also part of Community Programs is:
o Hydrotherapy: at Reservoir pool
o Active elders: Strengths Training at MAYSAR
o Make a Move: Fall‟s prevention at MAYSAR
o Diabetes Club at MAYSAR
Men‟s Health and Family Violence worker is the first point of contact
for men‟s issues. The worker provides referrals and linkages to
other services.

Organisation
VAHS Services
VAHS provides service to many Aboriginal people. Across the board
statistics estimate some 15,000 dental patients and 18,000 medical
clients. The frontline intake and assessment team respond to some
300 telephone contacts per day. VAHS is a leader in the
development of culturally appropriate health care delivery to the
Aboriginal community. It provides health and medical services to an
extremely disadvantaged and subjugated people, with limited
resources. Its resources, in comparison to many mainstream health
service providers are extremely limited, yet it is able to provide more
than a medical service to its community and people.
VAHS Programs
Services are delivered through six program areas:
o Clinical (medical) Programs,
o Family Counselling Programs,
o Women's and Children's Programs,
o Community Programs,
o Oral Health Program,
o Financial Wellbeing Program.
All of the VAHS programs and services are delivered in a holistic
manner and encompass physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
