8. HACC Service As part of Community Programs we provide allied health care:<br />

Physiotherapy<br />

Nutritionist<br />

Nurse<br />

Podiatrist<br />

Occupational Therapist<br />

We conduct assessment and intake and provide referrals to other<br />

services and programs.<br />

We also provide transport to some of the associated programs – see<br />

below – and fort hospital and medical, dental appointments.<br />

Also part of Community Programs is:<br />

o Hydrotherapy: at Reservoir pool<br />

o Active elders: Strengths Training at MAYSAR<br />

o Make a Move: Fall‟s prevention at MAYSAR<br />

o Diabetes Club at MAYSAR<br />

Men‟s Health and Family Violence worker is the first point of contact<br />

for men‟s issues. The worker provides referrals and linkages to<br />

other services.<br />

9. Other <strong>Services</strong> in<br />

Organisation<br />

VAHS <strong>Services</strong><br />

VAHS provides service to many Aboriginal people. Across the board<br />

statistics estimate some 15,000 dental patients and 18,000 medical<br />

clients. The frontline intake and assessment team respond to some<br />

300 telephone contacts per day. VAHS is a leader in the<br />

development of culturally appropriate health care delivery to the<br />

Aboriginal community. It provides health and medical services to an<br />

extremely disadvantaged and subjugated people, with limited<br />

resources. Its resources, in comparison to many mainstream health<br />

service providers are extremely limited, yet it is able to provide more<br />

than a medical service to its community and people.<br />

VAHS Programs<br />

<strong>Services</strong> are delivered through six program areas:<br />

o Clinical (medical) Programs,<br />

o Family Counselling Programs,<br />

o Women's and Children's Programs,<br />

o Community Programs,<br />

o Oral Health Program,<br />

o Financial Wellbeing Program.<br />

All of the VAHS programs and services are delivered in a holistic<br />

manner and encompass physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.<br />
