2. Brief History of Service The Homelessness Advocacy Service (HAS) aims to secure and<br />

protect the rights of people experiencing homelessness through<br />

individual advocacy, effective complaint management, state wide<br />

training, community education, partnerships, and consumer<br />

participation through the Peer Education Support Program (PESP).<br />

The service has been operational for 16 years.<br />

Most contacts are done through our 1800 number. A HAS<br />

Advocated will call back within 24 for the initial contact.<br />

Advocate & 1 .5 PESP Team Leader. 6 PESP volunteers.<br />

Our service partners with the Homeless Persons Legal Clinic,<br />

RDNS Homelessness Service, Dept of Justice, the Tenants Union<br />

of Vic, Ozanam Community Centre, the Yarra Housing and<br />

Homelessness Network and has the scope to partner any ethical<br />

enterprise involving homelessness.<br />
