3.9.3 Rail
The E&N Rail corridor is anticipated to remain as an active transportation
corridor through the site and linking to downtown Victoria and is an important
public amenity for the city and the region.
Planning for the future use of the rail corridor is underway by the Island
Corridor Foundation and transportation stakeholders and could include future
commuter rail service to the western communities, passenger excursion
service up island, light rail service, heavy rail service or other rail-based
transportation use.
• A new “Russell’s Station” could be located on the site to serve as a
transportation stop along the corridor, serving the Victoria West and
Songhees neighbourhoods.
