Richard and Etty Ruswita
Come Out Tops
Richard Ling (24) played some scintillating golf and came out
on top of the Men’s division during the Captains’ Day golf event
held on 11 July. In fact, it was a runaway win for Richard, who
amassed 49 stableford points, as four of his closest challengers
managed only 37 points.
Of the foursome, Teru Kawai (10) had the best score based on
a countback and deservedly took second place while
Tan Swee Teck (24) edged out Vincent Tan (14) for
third place. Vincent’s score was good enough for
fourth place while Naranjan Singh took home the
fifth prize.
Captain &
Richard Ling
Scores in the ladies’ division were fairly close. Etty
Ruswita Ochiai (16) returned with 40 stableford
points for her victory. Junior golfer Gwendolyn Wee
(27) won the second prize, a point behind while
another junior Rebecca De Foe (34) took third spot
on countback from Soodendra (36) when both
returned with 36 points.
Ladies’ Captain &
Etty Ruswita Ochiai
Captain Bobby Wee contributed all the 50 lucky draw prizes for
the event plus 6 lucky draw prizes for GAs, while Lady Captain
Loh Ju Fern contributed prizes for the golf competition. Angelia
Kwan won the top lucky draw prize of a 22” LCD TV.
Hat Trick For Swee Teck
Lim Swee Teck put up a consistent performance over four
days of competition to win the Crocodile Cup which was
held on 6, 14, 20 and 21 July. He returned with a total
gross 362 to finish three strokes ahead of Patrick Lam.
Swee Teck, who was runner-up in this event last year,
regained the title he won in 2007, making it a hat trick
of wins. His first Crocodile Cup win was in 1995.
Patrick, who was leading by two strokes after the third
