DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH<br />

Dr. Twiggs, who also is the Dean of Women’s<br />

Health at the University of Miami School of<br />

Medicine, has tested the efficacy of a vaccine for<br />

human papillomavirus (HPV) as a method of<br />

controlling the risk of cervical cancer. He also<br />

collaborates with Michael H. Antoni, Ph.D., and<br />

Mary Josephine O’Sullivan, M.D., to conduct<br />

studies of the effects of stressors and stress management<br />

on health behaviors and cervical neoplasia<br />

in women co-infected with HIV and HPV.<br />
