ITMA is a technological center located in Asturias (Spain) focused on <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> materials science<br />

and technology. The activity is market-oriented and R&D projects are currently developed for Refractory,<br />

Steelmaking, Energy, Electronic and Ceramic sectors.<br />

Main capacities in <strong>nanotechnology</strong> / nanoscience<br />

Main research lines are:<br />

- Thin film solar technology for building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV)<br />

- Physical (sputtering, evaporation) and chemical (PECVD, <strong>the</strong>rmal) vapor deposition technology<br />

- Syn<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>of</strong> single and multiwall carbon nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition<br />

- Syn<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>of</strong> graphene by chemical vapor deposition and development <strong>of</strong> transfer processes for<br />

different substrates<br />

- Design and development <strong>of</strong> metallic nanostructures for plasmon enhancement in solar cells<br />

- Novel transparent conductors (nanowires, graphene, PEDOT:PSS) as an alternative to transparent<br />

conductive oxides. Development <strong>of</strong> low-cost coating technologies.<br />

- Advanced polymer technology for different industrial sectors<br />

- New encapsulants with spectral conversion for solar industry<br />

- Luminescent solar concentrators: second generation concepts and complete device manufacturing<br />

-ETFE-MFM (FP7-ENERGY): Development and demonstration <strong>of</strong> flexible multifunctional ETFE module for<br />

architectural façade lighting<br />

-INSIDDE (FP7-ICT): Integration <strong>of</strong> technological solutions for Imaging, detection, and digitisation <strong>of</strong> hidden<br />

elements in artworks<br />

-BIPHOCAL (EUROSTARS): Building Integrable Photovoltaics: Coloured and light-transparent modules<br />

-DINNAMIC (INNPACTO, National): Carbon-silver based nanomateriales for functional elements in<br />

automotive industry<br />

-ATON (CENIT;national): Research and development in novel materials and processes for thin film solar<br />

technology<br />
