Industrial Química del Nalón, S.A., (NalonChem) is an independent and private family Company whose<br />

activity is focused on <strong>the</strong> carbochemical sector. It has been operating its own technological processes,<br />

based on solid entrepreneurial values since its foundation in 1943.<br />

Belonging to Ibérica de Servicios e Inversiones, S.A., an important Asturian entrepreneurial group,<br />

provides a strong financial backing to Industrial Química del Nalón,S.A.<br />

Since its foundation, it has gradually grown through a permanent effort <strong>of</strong> technological, commercial and<br />

management improvements, increasing its presence in both national and international markets and<br />

becoming a leader in technology, quality and service.<br />

Industrial Química del Nalón, S.A. develops its corporate activity along two business lines:<br />

1.-Carbochemical: based on <strong>the</strong> distillation <strong>of</strong> high temperature coal tar for obtaining pitch, naphthalene<br />

and oils (carbolic, anthracene, etc).<br />

2.-Coke: obtained by means <strong>of</strong> high-temperature dry coking coal distillation, with applications in iron<br />

foundries, non-ferrous smelting, insulation sector, <strong>the</strong> chemical and sugar industries, ferrous alloys, etc.<br />

It is also present in <strong>the</strong> Power Generation and Logistics sectors through its subsidiaries and associated<br />

companies.<br />

Main capacities in <strong>nanotechnology</strong>/nanoscience<br />

Industrial Química del Nalón, S.A., based on <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> its own technology, has <strong>the</strong> capacity <strong>of</strong><br />

manufacturing high specification nanoparticle dispersions.<br />

This versatile technology enables <strong>the</strong> syn<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>of</strong> a wide range <strong>of</strong> nano-products such as nano-metals,<br />

nano-metal oxides and nano-mixed oxides, allowing an outstanding level <strong>of</strong> product control (composition,<br />

particle size, size distribution and morphology) and flexibility to perform in-situ surface modification, thus<br />

providing dispersion stability and compatibility between <strong>the</strong> solvent and <strong>the</strong> formulated final product.<br />

Industrial Química del Nalón, S.A. nanoparticles are currently available in titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ).<br />

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles are used in a wide variety <strong>of</strong> applications including catalysis, cosmetics,<br />
