Organization profile
The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by
the Generalitat de Catalunya devoted to research in the area of chemistry. The institute is sponsored by
leading chemical and pharmaceutical companies and it is funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the
European Union (FEDER funds) as well as by competitive research funding and the revenues from
industrial collaborations.
ICIQ hosts 18 research groups covering three main research areas:
Catalysis of the chemical process: Health and Sustainability.
Supramolecular chemistry: Nanoscience and New Materials.
Renewable energies: Molecular Photovoltaic and Artificial Photosynthesis.
ICIQ has consolidated its position as one of the top level institutions for chemical research.
