On April 27, 2011, a massive tornado ripped across Alabama. The world read about Tuscaloosa and Birmingham but
nothing about small towns like Hackleburg in northwest Alabama. Although CBFResponds quickly established relief
efforts in major cities, it also sought other areas of service. Along with many on-the-ground partners, CBFResponds
is helping residents of Hackleburg regain order in their shattered lives by assisting in rebuilding a community. The
tornadoes left one Hackleburg resident, Miss Betty, without her apartment, possessions, or insurance, upon which
CBF personnel responded by building her new home. Pray for CBFResponds as it continues to help those with the

Synago Church in Richmond, Virginia, planted and co-pastored by Nelson Taylor and Erin Spengeman, may be a
small, quirky congregation, but it is big on love, laughter, and openness. Named from the Greek word for “gathering
together,” Synago seeks to gather unlikely people and passions, fusing them into a new way of being church. As a
church for those who grew up in church but left in disillusionment, Synago seeks to create safe spaces for seekers
to ask questions and doubt, connect faith with music, and pray for one another. Pray that Synago receives guidance
from God as well as resources to support the church and its blossoming music center. Pray that seekers in Richmond
will find a home at Synago.
