Roberta Plutzak, Courier-Express reviewer,
called "Three Sisters" one of the
and certainly one of the new year's most
compelling films." The AFT series is shown
Attenson pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted
second-degree promotion of obscenity,
which dropped the original charge
against him to a Class B misdemeanor, before
City Judge Sebastian J. Bellomo. The
judge ordered a probational department investigation
for sentencing April 1. The corporation
and Attenson also had been
charged with a felony in the showing of
obscene films to a minor. Detective Joseph
J. Scinta had charged that January 23 a 16-
year-old boy was found in the audience. The
state penal law makes it a Class E felony
to show an indecent film to minors. Defense
attorney Joseph D. Bermingham jr. obtained
approval of Asst. Dist. Atty. Robert Bolm
for dismissal of the felony charge on pleas
of guilty by the corporation to two counts
of the original misdemeanor charges and a
plea to an attempted charge by Attenson.
He said in plea application that Attenson
and the corporation were acting in "good
faith" in operation of the theatre, that
changes in obscenity laws had been occurring
swiftly and that higher-up company
officers determined the choice of films.
