Theatre Admission Fees
Are Lowered in Ottawa
Ottawa—Local theatregoers recently
were given a special treat. Admission
prices at movie houses here actually
dropped!
The provincial budget was announced
Monday, April 18, and it
eliminated the amusement tax on all
entertainment priced under $3.
Since adult tickets at boxofficcs here
were $3.25 ($2.95, plus 8 per cent tax),
the fee was lowered to $3—with the
tax removed. Youth prices are $2.50,
while "Golden Age" admissions are 90
cents.
Local theatregoers expressed considerable
surprise. After all, it is quite
a novelty to find anything at a reduced
price.
