Senior Managers Program

You have at least 10 years experience as a CEO or 

Managing Director. You may also be a functional 

department head or general manager preparing for 

these positions.

This is an intensive and reflective learning experience 

that focuses on your personal transformation as 

a senior leader through three themes: individual 

transformation, organisational transformation and 

managing change and the future. We focus on your 

leadership style, review your leadership behaviours 

in mobilising those around you and challenge your 

approaches to problem solving. We introduce you to 

more creative ways of seeing, thinking and acting as

Strategic Planning and 

Management in Retailing 

Intensive Management Program 


You are a senior executive, key decision maker or 

senior manager in the retail sector or allied and 

associated businesses (including suppliers, 

distribution and logistics and providers of IT). 

You are looking for new ways to develop winning 

retail strategies, increase profits and build a 

sustainable and competitive advantage. 


You will explore the strategies employed by some of 

the most profitable retailers in the world, understand 

the latest global trends and discover the ‘Eight Ways 

to Win in Retailing’. This program is led by three of 

the most respected retail management educators in 

the USA, Professors Larry Ring, John Strong and Ron 

Hess of the Mason School of Business, the College 

of William and Mary, Virginia. You will gain the tools 

and frameworks to develop your own winning retail 

strategies and to effectively manage your operations 

for higher sales and profits. 


You will learn to adapt more effectively to 

continuous change in the retail environment.

academic rigour and research and is facilitated by MBS 

faculty at our Carlton campus. 

You are a manager from a specialised or technical 

area seeking to acquire knowledge quickly about the 

different functional areas across an organisation. You 

may have limited managerial experience and require 

a better understanding of the skills needed to operate 

successfully in a managerial role. 


You will gain a better understanding of key business 

functions and a holistic view of management that 

will improve your thinking and decision making. You 

will be introduced to the topics of marketing, finance, 

operations and people management and acquire the 

skills and knowledge to progress your career. 


Your managerial depth will be extended, enabling 

you to take an integrated approach to strategic and

Management Development Program 

Accelerated Development for 

Emerging Managers 


The skills covered in this program are similar to 

the Intensive Management Program, the way the 

program is delivered is different. The format is highly 

interactive and participants will engage in a number of 

simulations and small group activities. 

You are a middle manager from a specialised or 

technical area seeking to fast track your knowledge 

about the different functional areas across an 

organisation. You want a deep understanding of 

the skills needed to operate successfully in a senior 

managerial role. 


You will gain a better understanding of key business 

functions and a holistic view of management that 

will improve your thinking and decision making. 

You will be introduced to the topics of marketing, 

finance, operations, strategy and people management 

and acquire the skills and knowledge to progress 

your career. 


The interactive format, practical simulations and 

intensive syndicate exercises will enable you to master 

new managerial skills that can be immediately applied 

at work. You will understand your business from the 

perspective of different functional areas and how to 

communicate with all levels of your organisation.

You are a Generation X or Y manager (frontline, 

project or middle manager) with some management 

and leadership experience, seeking to accelerate your 

development. You have been identified as having 

potential for more senior roles in the future. 


This program delivers practical performance 

improvement strategies for already high-performing 

managers. You will gain best-practice strategies 

for developing and measuring individual and team 

performance and implementing business plans. You 

will also learn and practise negotiation, influencing 

and coaching skills to achieve high-value outcomes. 

The program is enhanced by a highly interactive and 

sophisticated business simulation designed to support 

your learning during and after the program. As part 

of the program fee, each participant is provided with 

an iPad which is theirs to keep and use after the 

program. The iPad will be instrumental in learning 

activities before, during and after the program. 


You will discover your leadership and management 

strengths, develop further practical skills to create 

a high-performance environment, manage conflict, 

negotiate more productive outcomes and develop a 

performance development plan for yourself.
