12. Complete 50 Fast-Fix Sidewalk Replacement projects.<br />

<strong>13</strong>. Complete 32 segments <strong>of</strong> street resurfacing for a total <strong>of</strong> 39 lane<br />

miles and completes the 2006 Capital Bond Program Resurfacing.<br />

14. Complete 14 Intergovernmental Partnership Projects.<br />

SERVICE DESCRIPTIONS<br />

Alley Petitions Engineering and construction <strong>of</strong> alley paving through<br />

petitions from the Property Owners Cost Participation Program (POCPP).<br />

Petitions must represent a two-thirds majority <strong>of</strong> the abutting property owners<br />

and/or residents adjacent to unimproved alleys for a valid paving petition.<br />

Property owners are assessed for a portion <strong>of</strong> the cost.<br />

Alley Reconstruction Engineering and construction <strong>of</strong> alleys that have<br />

exceeded their structural life expectancy.<br />

Alternate Mode Transportation Trails All weather trail projects that<br />

encourage walking, bicycling and other modes <strong>of</strong> transportation as an<br />

alternative to the automobile. These facilities <strong>of</strong>fer sufficient width to<br />

accommodate bicyclists, pedestrians and skaters, and are recommended<br />

under the North Central Texas Council <strong>of</strong> Government's (COG) Mobility 2025<br />

Plan and the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission's<br />

(TNRCC) Emission Reduction Plan for the region.<br />

Barrier Free Ramps The general public requests barrier-free-ramp projects.<br />

Priority is given to walkways serving government <strong>of</strong>fices and facilities, health<br />

care facilities (hospitals, clinics, retirement facilities, etc.), bus stops and<br />

transportation centers (DART), commercial districts (private businesses<br />

<strong>of</strong>fering goods and services to the public), schools, followed by walkways<br />

serving residential areas.<br />

Bridge Repair and Modification Provide for repair and modification <strong>of</strong><br />

bridges due to structural deficiencies identified in the bi-annual Bridge<br />

Inventory Inspection and Appraisal Program (BRINSAP) performed by Texas<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation.<br />

Economic and Business Development Street, utility and other<br />

infrastructure <strong>improvement</strong>s in furtherance <strong>of</strong> economic and business<br />

development in the Southern area <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> and other target project sites.<br />

Housing Infrastructure Improvements Street, alley and drainage<br />

infrastructure <strong>improvement</strong>s for low to moderate-income housing. Property<br />

owners may be assessed for a portion <strong>of</strong> the cost.<br />

Intergovernmental Partnership Projects Transportation projects where the<br />

<strong>City</strong> is leveraging funding from other federal, state and local sources. These<br />

projects typically include building a Roadway to the standard identified in the<br />

Thoroughfare Plan, adding turn lanes at intersections, bridges, signal and<br />

other ITS upgrades, and trail projects.<br />

Local Collector Improvements to substandard or over-burdened local<br />

collector streets to bring them into compliance with current <strong>City</strong> standards<br />

including safety, lane. width, and pavement thickness.<br />

Participation With Other Government Agencies - Alternate Modes<br />

Improvements to alternate modes <strong>of</strong> transportation such as separate bike<br />

routes, signage, or parking facilities with matching funds from other agencies.<br />

Participation With Other Government Agencies - Intersections<br />

Improvements for turning movements, addition <strong>of</strong> auxiliary turn lanes, and<br />

increasing storage capacity at designated intersections using matching funds<br />

from other agencies.<br />
