PARK AND RECREATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Services and Debt Issuance Provides funding for certain<br />
costs associated with <strong>capital</strong> <strong>improvement</strong> projects. These costs include<br />
studies and long-range plans, debt issuance costs, and reimbursements to<br />
the General Fund for pr<strong>of</strong>essional staff services such as design, survey, land<br />
acquisition fees and engineering. These costs also include transfers to<br />
General Fund.<br />
Studies and Master Plans Provides funding for resolution <strong>of</strong> major<br />
developmental issues prior to proceeding with design and construction <strong>of</strong><br />
individual projects.<br />
Trail Development Provides funding for trails identified within the<br />
citywide trails master plan.<br />
Public Art Includes the public art initiatives throughout the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong>.<br />
Funds generated by Public Art appropriations are used for the design<br />
services <strong>of</strong> artists, for the selection, acquisition, commissioning and display<br />
<strong>of</strong> artworks and for administration <strong>of</strong> the public art projects.<br />
Public Private Partnership Provides a funding source for leveraging<br />
potential participation and private funding to support park development and<br />
programming.<br />
Recreation Centers These facilities provide for new recreation centers and<br />
additions to and renovations <strong>of</strong> existing recreation centers. The standard<br />
recreation center has program space and a full gymnasium. An addition<br />
typically consists <strong>of</strong> a large multi-purpose room. Reservation facilities are<br />
available to the public for rental for special events and functions.<br />
Regional Parks These parks are very large multi-use parks that serve<br />
several communities within a particular region. They encompass 500+ acres<br />
and serve those within a one-hour driving distance. The regional park will<br />
provide a wide array <strong>of</strong> active and passive recreation activities for all age<br />
groups.<br />
Site Development Includes the development and implementation <strong>of</strong> Park<br />
master plans. These projects may include installing some or all <strong>of</strong> the<br />
components as outlined in the Plan. Typical components may include:<br />
pavilions, sidewalks, barrier free ramps, hiking and biking trails, drainage,<br />
landscaping and irrigation, fencing, lighting, signage, and other<br />
<strong>improvement</strong>s.<br />
Special Use Areas These areas are for specialized or single purpose<br />
recreation activities. There are no specific standards for size or acreage.<br />
Included in these areas are: historic areas, nature centers, marinas, golf<br />
courses, zoos, arboretums, amphitheaters, plazas and community squares.<br />
