Film<strong>Offaly</strong> was instrumental in attracting Fastnet Films to<br />
shoot the film The Other Side of Sleep entirely in <strong>Offaly</strong> during<br />
<strong>2010</strong>. Film<strong>Offaly</strong> also initiated the inaugural OFFline Offline<br />
Film Festival which took place in November <strong>2010</strong>, with<br />
screenings, workshops and a filmmaking challenge.<br />
Drama Awards<br />
12 drama groups and musical societies received funding for<br />
productions or equipment and 2 people received bursaries to<br />
attend the Drama League of Ireland Summer School. Grants<br />
ranged from €500 to €1000.<br />

of the first OFFLine filmmaking challenge with her short film the Sandeman<br />
Arts Act Grants<br />
42 community groups received funding under the Arts Act<br />
Grants. The grants provide support to assist individuals and/<br />
or groups to organise and participate in arts events. The total<br />
budget of €13,500 was allocated in grants that ranged from<br />
€600 to €200.<br />
Support to Artists Scheme<br />
22 artists received financial support under this scheme. The<br />
scheme seeks to assist the artists with purchasing materials,<br />
exhibition costs or research time. Writer Rosalind received the<br />
Tyrone Guthrie Bursary to spend two weeks at Annamacarrig<br />
and artists Patricia Hurl, Willie Redmond and Siobhan McCormack<br />
received solo exhibitions in Aras an Chontae.<br />
Ballycumber Drama Group – the cast of Run for your Wife<br />
Youth Arts Scheme<br />
In <strong>2010</strong> the Arts Section introduced a new scheme aimed at<br />
providing quality and innovative arts experiences for a youth<br />
group. Applications are jointly made between the support organisation<br />
and an artist. 11 grants were offered ranging from<br />
€150 to €650.<br />
Community Band Grants<br />
In <strong>2010</strong> a new funding scheme was introduced to support the<br />
growth of community bands over the past few years. 4 grants<br />
were offered ranging from €500 to €800.<br />
