Sharavogue
An initial allocation of €500,000 was received for an overlay on the
N62 at Drumakeenan on the Birr/Roscrea Road. During 2010 the
NRA advised Offaly County Council that it would be prepared to provide
additional funding for overlay work at locations on the National
Secondary Road network in circumstances where the Local Authority
could demonstrate there was an urgent need. Offaly County Council
submitted an extra scheme from the County Boundary with Westmeath
on the N52 at Kilbeggan to the Tullamore By Pass, a
total length of 4.30Kms. We also sought funding to extend the overlay
scheme on the N62 at Drumakeenan, which initially was 1.5Kms
long, to the County boundary with North Tipperary (an extra
2.00Kms) a total length of 3.5Kms. The NRA confirmed these allocations
to us late in the year. Unfortunately due to the poor
weather conditions experienced towards the end of the year it
was not possible to complete this work until the early months of
2011.

The structural improvements to Cox’s Bridge Tullamore (N80) and
Charlestown Bridge Clara (N80) under the Leinster Bridges Rehabilitation
Contract No2 were delayed and works were substantially completed
in January and February 2011.
The final allocations received from the NRA in 2010 for repairs and
