WILDCAT ATHLETICS<br />
T <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> sponsors 16 NCAA athletic<br />
teams. The Wildcats are charter members of the Big<br />
Sky Conference, having been members of the Big<br />
Sky since the league’s inception in 1963. The <strong>2012</strong>-<br />
13 season marks the 50th anniversary of <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />
AThletics as a Division I institution.<br />
<strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> sponsors seven men’s sports:<br />
basketball, football, tennis, golf, cross country, Indoor<br />
track and field, and outdoor track and field. There are<br />
nine women’s sports: basketball, volleyball, soccer,<br />
softball, tennis, golf, cross country, indoor track and<br />
field, and outdoor track and field.<br />
<strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> has won the Sterling Savings Bank Big<br />
Sky Conference Presidents Cup trophy four times,<br />
more than any other school in the Big Sky. WSU lost a<br />
tiebreak for the title in <strong>2012</strong>. The Presidents Cup is an<br />
award that recognizes a combination of academic and<br />
athletic achievement. The ‘Cats won the Cup in 2003,<br />
2004, 2008 and 2009. <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> has claimed the<br />
most titles in both the men’s and women’s Big Sky All-<br />
Sports Trophy race. The Wildcat men have captured<br />
16 Men’s All-Sports titles, including capturing the title<br />
in 2009 and 2010. The WSU women have won nine<br />
Women’s All-Sports trophies.<br />
A total of 149 Wildcats earned Big Sky All-Conference<br />
honors in the last two seasons. In addition, 133<br />
Wildcats earned Big Sky Academic All-Conference<br />
honors in 2011-12. Two-thirds of <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> studentathletes<br />
have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.<br />
During the 2011-12 season the <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> women’s<br />
track and field team captured the Big Sky Conference<br />
Indoor Championships and the women’s cross<br />
country team won the Big Sky title. The WSU men’s<br />
basketball team finished second in the Big Sky and<br />
was led by All-American Damian Lillard who was<br />
drafted sixth in the <strong>2012</strong> NBA Draft by the Portland<br />
Trail Blazers.
