RADIO INFORMATION CARL ARKY Voice of the Wildcats Carl Arky returns for his 15th season as the radio voice for Weber State Athletics. For Wildcat football games he will be joined in the booth by former WSU standout Ty Sparrow. In 2011 Arky was honored as the Utah Sportscaster of the Year. Arky began at Weber State in 1998. He was a member of the WSU Athletic Department, serving as the Director of Broadcast Services for fi ve years before moving on in September of 2002 to become the afternoon sports anchor at KFAN Sports Radio in Salt Lake City. Before coming to Weber State, Arky had been the Sports Director at KTVX-TV (ABC 4) in Salt Lake City and served as the color analyst on the televised games of the Salt Lake Buzz Triple AAA baseball team. He also served as the television voice for Pro Rodeo on ESPN for four seasons. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Arky graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 1977. His fi rst full-time position came in 1978 at KTUL-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he served as a sportscaster and was the producer/host of the Jimmy Johnson Oklahoma State Football Coaches Show. Arky came to Utah in 1983 where he worked at KUTV-TV Channel 2 in Salt Lake City. In 1987, he left to become the Director of Broadcasting for the Utah Jazz. There he was responsible for the production and syndication of all Utah Jazz radio and television programming, and served as the color analyst on those broadcasts. After two seasons with the Jazz, Arky formed his own production company (C.A.P.) and broadcasted cable TV games of the Sacramento Kings, as well as the Western Athletic Conference Game of the Week, Air Force Blue-White Network and selected games for the University of Utah from 1989 through 1991. Arky is married to Deborah Linder, they are the parents of two sons, Jake and Sam. WILDCATS ON 1280 THE ZONE Weber State University Athletics has announced the continuation of a partnership with AM-1280 KZNS “The Zone” to broadcast Weber State football and men’s basketball games this season. “The Zone” broadcast all games last season and will continue to be the exclusive radio home of the Weber State Wildcats. 1280 “The Zone” is an all-sports radio station in Salt Lake City that has covered Utah sports for many years. Earlier this year, The Zone underwent management changes and is now under the ownership of the Larry H. Miller Group. 1280-AM and 97.5-FM “The Zone” is the new radio home of the Utah Jazz. All Weber State football and men’s basketball games will be broadcast live this season with the majority of Wildcat games airing on 1280 “The Zone”. When scheduling confl icts occur with Utah Jazz games, “The Zone” will place Weber State games on FM-106.9 KEGH. All games will continue to air live on 1280 or 106.9 and all games will be streamed live online at 1280thezone.com. A pre and post-game show will continue to be a part of every WSU game.
