Justin Rascati is in his<br />
fi rst season as an assistant coach with<br />
the Wildcats. He joined the WSU staff in the spring of <strong>2012</strong> and<br />
coaches the quarterbacks at <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong>.<br />
Rascati He played quarterback under then head coach John L.<br />
Smith at Louisville before transferring to James Madison where<br />
he led the Dukes to the Division I-AA (now FCS) championship<br />
in 2004. James Madison defeated Montana in the championship<br />
game. As a senior in 2004 he threw for over 2,00 yards and 14<br />
touchdowns. He also rushed for 375 yards and 10 touchdowns.<br />
After graduating from James Madison he went undrafted but did<br />
have tryouts in the NFL and the CFL. He played in the Arena Football<br />
2 League and was most recently an offensive coordinator for a<br />
high school in Kentucky.<br />
Rascati is a native of Gainsville, Florida.<br />
Ryan Smaha is in his<br />
fi rst season as an assistant coach with<br />
the Wildcats after joining the program in the summer of <strong>2012</strong>. He<br />
coaches the special teams for <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong>.<br />
Smaha comes to <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> from Idaho <strong>State</strong> where he was<br />
an assistant coach for the Bengals in 2011 coaching the outside<br />
linebackers. Prior to Idaho <strong>State</strong> Smaha spent the 2010 season as<br />
the tight ends coach at Western Oregon where he assisted the offensive<br />
coordinator and offensive line coach in run game planning.<br />
He coordinated walk-on players and tracked player participation.<br />
During the summer of 2010 Smaha helped coach the SWARCO<br />
Raiders in Innsbruck, Austria.<br />
Smaha worked as a graduate assistant coach at Washington<br />
<strong>State</strong> from January 2007 to April 2010, where he coached with<br />
coach Sears. While working with Cougars Smaha coached the<br />
SAM linebackers in 2008-09 and the assisted the defensive backs<br />
coach in 2007. During this time he also served as a defensive and<br />
special team’s coach.<br />
During his coaching tenure he coached three Pac-10 honorable<br />
mention players who all signed free agent contracts with NFL<br />
teams.<br />
Prior to Washington <strong>State</strong> Smaha had his fi rst stint at Idaho <strong>State</strong><br />
where he was the assistant recruiting coordinator from 2004-06.<br />
A native of Pullman, Wash., Smaha played for Eastern Oregon<br />
during in 2002 and 2003 seasons. During the 2003 season Smaha<br />
earned Football’s Big-Team-Little Me award.<br />
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration<br />
and Marketing from Eastern Oregon in 2004 and graduated<br />
with his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration in<br />
2011.<br />
